Lilly blessed us with her first word today, "Duck".
During our normal routine, she saw a picture of a duck on TV and promptly said Duck. A bit rattled I thought it a fluke until she said it 2 more times on cue.
Later the same day, I had to prove to Erin that this was no dream. Thus to the TV we went to cue up some ducks. Indeed as the feathery game entered stage right, Lilly said her line, 3 times quite clearly... Duck, Duck, Duck.

So the ducks have it. Not only do ducks possess the triple threat, of flying, swimming, and walking, they are also universally loved for their good looks and charming quacks. Well now they have another big fan in Lilly. It is good to be a duck.
The odds on favorites "Dog", "Tessa" or "No No Bad Dog" were clearly disappointed not to be chosen. Below a dejected Tessa clearly is stricken by the slight.

The proud parents are equally shocked as there has been no emphasis on duck and certainly no over representation of the quackers. This truly was a sleeper.
